In the early 1980’s JoAn Mann led Leadership training programs, conducted executive consulting for tech companies, banks, Fortune 500 corporations, universities, small businesses, as well as stress management programs and research with her physician-spouse.

To personalize her work and develop what would become popular as “Coaching” for managers, HR, career changers, professionals, and staff, she began using personality assessments in her ‘pre-work’. A recurring problem surfaced: these ‘personality’ assessments were cumbersome, hard to understand, judgmental, not viable across different cultures and left survey-takers feeling unsatisfied, even disrespected. That peaked her motivation to offer something simpler, more fun, yet research-hardy–answering the “so what??” of assessments.
